Author of Human Rights and the Image of God; Christendom Trust Research Fellow (2000–2004) at the Centre for Law and Religion, Cardiff Law School

Sponsored by the Justice and Peace Commission of the English Dominican Province, of which he is a co-opted member, Roger obtained funding from the Trust for a research and writing project on human rights and theology.

Centre for Religion and the Biosciences, University of Chester

Professor Celia Deane-Drummond

Funding was provided to establish the centre, which stimulates research and public discussion in areas relating to religion and the biosciences, including medicine. The focus on biosciences allows areas that are not normally considered by the existing research centres to be explored more thoroughly, in particular the ethical issues associated with new developments in biological research, including both medical and environmental issues.

In addition the Trust

  • was a substantial supporter of the study that led to the publication of Faith in the City;
  • over a number of years gave substantial funding to the William Temple Foundation in the University of Manchester;
  • supported the Rev'd Dr Charles Elliot in his development of the Institute of Contemporary Christian Spirituality, and his interests in the workings of the City;
  • contributed to the research study ‘The Gospel, the Poor and the Churches’ carried out for Christian Aid;
  • contributed to the ‘local People, National Voice’ initiative of Church Action on Poverty;
  • contributed to the Institute for the Study of Christianity and Sexuality for a conference on sexual violence within the Christian community;
  • has supported Sr Gill Goulding working on a project on the urban marginalized.
